Privacy
FindMyItem privacy information for search history, location use, analytics, monitoring, and third-party listing links.
Search and location data
The app can use a postcode or browser location permission to sort available listings by distance. Browser location is only requested when you choose it. FindMyItem records search terms, broad postcode districts, result counts, and privacy-minimised listing observations to measure coverage and produce aggregate market insights. It does not attach IP addresses or browser identifiers to these records.
Insights data retention
Recorded search observations are retained for a limited period, currently up to 12 months, and are intended for aggregate statistics rather than user profiling. Full postcodes and listing URLs are not stored in the insights database.
Local browser storage
The frontend stores recent searches, saved items, notes, and hidden listings in your browser. You can remove saved items and restore hidden items in the app. Clearing browser storage also removes the secret used to access your alerts; delete alerts and stop tracking first.
Saved searches and tracking
When you enable an alert or price tracking, a separate tracking database stores its query, filters, full postcode if supplied, and listing URLs against a hashed browser secret. These details are used to re-run your search and show updates. No email address is required. Inactive browser alerts and watches expire after 90 days. Notifications are retained for 90 days; unwatched listings expire 90 days after they were last seen. Aggregate daily visit, search, listing-click and save counts contain no browser identifiers and expire after one year. Browser notifications are optional and are only displayed while the app is open.
Third-party listing sites
Opening a listing takes you to the source website. That website's own privacy and cookie policies apply once you leave FindMyItem.
